John
H. Black was born in San Francisco, California. He graduated
from the University of California Davis in 1970 with a Bachelor
of Art in History and emphasis in Psychology. He attended
the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and graduated
in 1975, when he received the Lou Ashe Legal Medicine Award.
Mr. Black was admitted to the California State Bar in 1975,
and he has been a practitioner of workers’ compensation
defense since 1976. He is a co-founder
of the firm and served as the managing shareholder for several
years.

In 1983, Mr. Black became a California
State Bar Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist. He is currently a member
of the Sacramento County Bar Association, the California Workers’
Compensation Defense Attorneys Association, Valley Industrial
Claims Association, and Association of Workers Compensation
Professionals. John is an AV rated attorney in Martindale Hubbell.

He was appointed an executive
committee member of the California State Bar Workers’
Compensation Section, and served as the Section Chair from
1990 through 1991. Mr. Black has also served as a mediator and arbitrator
in both mandatory and voluntary binding arbitration before
the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.

Mr. Black is married with two
children, and he enjoys art, music, reading, sports and travel.
